DISCLAIMER: THIS IS NOT ME IN THE PHOTO!! THIS IS MY SISTER LEAH!!

This is the costume of Princess Aurora (Sleeping Beauty) that I made for my 17 year old sister Leah. Leah looks alot like me so people mistake her for me. This is not me in the photo, this is Leah my sister.

This wig was fun to make. I wanted to get the bangs similar to the bangs how they do at Disneyland but I wasn't able to accomplish that. I do like how the curls came out. I made the ringlets by taking a straight wig and adding rollers, then dunking the wig in boiling water.

This dress actually has 16 gores in it, and underneith she is wearing a corset that is squeezing her waist down to 23 inches. We decided that she needed an unnaturally small waist because Aurora had one in the movie. It needed to be victorian-small... so I kicked out a corset for her in a few hours.

O____O!!! She's EXACTLY how I'd picture Aurora to look if she were real! What a beautiful job you've done here-- Belle and Aurora are my favorite Disney princesses, and your cosplays of them are so wonderful. <3 Gorgeous. Simply gorgeous.

Oh I see, this answers how you made this particular wig. So dunking it in boiling water helps for keeping a style? Or is that just one way to go about it?

wigs aren't made with real human hair... so when styling them you have to look at it more like molding plastic than styling hair.

This is my favorite picture of the costume--it looks really lovely from over the shoulder and you can see those curls! They're really nice. Your sister really does look so much like you!

The wig looks so natural, you have great talent and I am being floored by the way you think things out. I would have never thought of dunking the hair in boiling water.

Did you learn about dunking the hair by trial-and-error or someone told you/read online?

trial and error. I usually steam curls but I didn't have a steamer so.. boiling water was my next try.

amazing thought. Would you say that the boiling water worked better or worse than steaming them?

it depends on what you're trying to go for really. I steamed the bangs and boiled the curls. for severe shaping I'd suggest boiling water but it'll rat your wig a little if you don't do it right.

In fairness, if you didn't say it was Aurora from Sleeping bueaty...I would have though it was Peach from Mario Bros. ^^;

Again beautiful. :nod:
