Took a quick hour break from my homework to whip this out really fast. Just something to sort of... break the monotony for a bit.

This is Fern of Ildilay, the beloved Zelda OC belonging to *mandeh. I adore her and I'm a big fangirl ... and I drew this a few years ago while I was at a sushi restaurant and never colored it. Well it was a nice quick thing to get done for Mandy since I was in a fanartish kinda mood ;)!!

FERN BELONGS TO HER AND IS DESIGNED BY HER!

I've been to her little site a few times now. Fern marks the second Zelda OC I've seen (after Serenity) with her own site.

Maybe I oughta try something like that someday. I actually made up my first OC at around the same time as Ms. Mandy here and RP'd as him since around then, so I shouldn't have too much less to give.

I must say that Fern should not be ever compared to Serenity, who is a textbook marysue. There has definitely been a LOT of thought put into Fern, and I think Mandy is one of the only people who I really dig as an OC creator. I generally can't stand OCs but hers are just FABULOUS!

"textbook marysue"

Ok, so I'm not the only one who thought that >_>

I see where you're coming from with how you view OCs, I suppose. Most often, people tend to have more OC's than you can count on both hands, but less life to them than you need to count on one. As far as I could notice, they're never given any real backstory or upbringing, made to focus only on what kind of archetype they had in mind in creating them, until they fall by the wayside into. I only have two OC's of my own, but they've stayed under the microscope since the day they were conceived. Two things I've always made sure to regard as the most important factors are their personalities and their histories, something that should play the biggest factor to everything else.

A lot of people think that. Doesn't mean we don't love Ashley though (Serenity's creator)! She's a very nice girl.. its just her character is the definitive sue. I'm a real stickler for hating on sues and badly written characters because I've been RPing for so long and I've spent so much time interacting with OCs... its one of the reasons Fern stuck out to me as being super unique and awesome.

Yeah, of all the OCs I've RP'd with, the worst ones have gone beyond Mary Sue status with (for example) assets that don't even exist in that certain universe. It was probably the biggest incentive for me to rewrite my character as opposed to just making more. I didn't start doing private RP's with my friends until my sophmore year in High school.

Here's hoping the Zelda OC's club of yours brings out more characters worthy of their own DA Clubs.

Wow! Pretty! She resembles Zelda, too! Is that the point?

Please look at my concept Zelda. There are some parallels, I think.

This character was designed back in 2002 LONG before Twilight Princess ever came out. She has only recently been compared to Zelda due to Twilight Princess's release (Zelda having brown hair). Before TP, nobody compared her to Zelda ever. I'm sorry but a girl with brown hair who is a Zelda OC does not mean they're meant to look like Zelda. Lots of people have brown hair. What parallels do you mean?
